There are many egg replacements available for baking or any recipes that calls for eggs. Most of the egg substitutes can be purchased at health food stores and most grocery stores. Here in this page, you can find excellent recipes that are tried and tested using various egg substitutes. This page will be regularly updated with various egg substitutes and recipes using them.

Egg Substitute Quantity Best Suitable For How is the result?
Based on the information provided in The Joy of Vegan Baking by Colleen Patrick-Goudreau and Cooking Free: 200 Flavorful Recipes for People with Food Allergies and Multiple Food Sensations by Carol Fenster.
Silken Tofu

Substitute ¼ cup of whipped silken tofu for each egg. Rich, dense and moist cakes, cookies, breads and brownies Baked goods won’t brown as deeply, but they will be very moist and heavy.
Flaxseed Powder

Whisk/blend together 1 teaspoon of flax seed powder with ¼ cup of water for each egg to be replaced. (Also see My Notes 1) Flaxseed has a nutty flavor, so it works best that are grainier and nuttier, such as waffles, pancakes, bran muffins, breads and oatmeal cookies. Best in dark colored dishes. The baked goods are heavier, dense.
Pureed Fruits (mashed bananas, applesauce, apricots, pears, prunes) ¼ cup for each egg. Increase leavening by 25-50%. Bake items slightly longer, if necessary. Cakes, quick breads and brownies.
Vinegar and Baking soda 1 teaspoon of baking soda along with 1 tablespoon of vinegar. Apple cider vinegar and white distilled vinegar can be used. Cakes, cupcakes and quick breads.
Buttermilk, Yogurt or Baking Soda If there are no other ingredients to make the baked item rise, then one of these can be used in place of the egg. Replace the liquid in the recipe with same amount of buttermilk or thinned yogurt. Replace baking powder with ¼ as much baking soda. cookies, bars and flatbreads.
Commericial Egg Replacer Powder (like EnerG) Whip together in a food processor or blender 1 ½ teaspoons powder and 2 tablespoons water. Sometimes 2-3 times as much powder in the same amount of water gives better results. All baked goods, especially cookies. Flavorless, won’t affect the taste of the baked goods.

DAY 1

LCCT KL- LONDON STANSTED

My flight to London was scheduled to depart from LCCT at 10 am and would arrive at London Stansted at 4 pm local time.
Hari tu sampai awal di LCCT utk check in dan nak breakfast sekali. Dalam kol 8.15 kot dah beratur kat check in. Masa tu org tak ramai lagi la. I travelled light. Ada satu hand luggage je. Tak de luggage utk check in so ambil boarding pass je. Pastu pergi makan skit. My kelebihan is, in whatever situation masih boleh makan. So, sekalipun berdebar2 (skit je) sbb akan travel sorang2 ni..makan mcm biasa. Lagi pun masa tu lapar je rasanya. Pastu dok fikir flight 13 jam (actually + - 14 jam).
Tempat duduknya selesa. Ruang utk kaki luas. Head rest boleh lipat jadi x de masalah terlentok kat org sebelah. My seat was 40A..tepi tingkap..my fave seat..kat sebelah kosong..x de org..lagi best boleh conquer 2 seat.
Masa booked ticket dah pre-booked Malaysian meal and comfort kit - dalam kit tu ada selimut, neck rest, penutup mata. Malaysian meal utk KL- London adalah roti jala utk tengah hari dan nasi lemak utk hidangan yg kedua 3 jam sblm mendarat. Masa tu dah kol 9mlm Malaysian time. Perut dah cukup berkeroncong masa tu. Tapi tahan je lah.
Hidangan pertama dalam kol 12 kot. Tapi saya makan lepas kol 1 sbb dah breakfast agak banyak lah jugak tadinya. Makanannya ok lah utk sekadar alas perut. Nak enjoy sgt tu..lain kali je lah. Kena beli extra air sbb kalau x nanti kering. Tu pun bibir dah kering..terpaksa apply moisturiser every now and then.
Jam kat tangan dah kol 7 mlm Malaysia time. Tapi kat luar matahari memancar terik dan rasa panas. Tak terasa air-cond atas kapal terbang. So, jaket letak tepi je. Tapi ready je kat tangan sbb bila sampai nanti x perlu lah buka beg utk ambil jaket.
Saya bawa bekal 2 buah buku utk dibaca spnjng perjalanan.. 1 time pergi dan 1 lagi time balik. Hampir habis sebiji buku time pergi. X larat juga rupanya nak baca buku 14 jam tanpa henti ni. Bukannya apa...lenguh lengan dan tangan nak tatang buku...Dah lama duduk... saya ambil keputusan utk jalan2 utk elakkan lenguh kaki sbb terlalu lama duduk. So I dah buat satu pusinganlah kat atas tu. Perkara yg paling tak suka kalau terbang ni...pergi toilet.. malas nak cerita panjang...
Mendarat kat Stansted beberapa minit sblm kol 4 ptg. Kena naik train ke terminal building. Memang dah ramai yg beratur utk cop pasport. Dah le byk tanya pulak...lagi lah lama beratur. People from UK & European countries satu kumpulan and the rest satu kumpulan lain. Dah hampir kol 5 baru boleh keluar dari situ and the real adventure would start soon.........

ALONE IN A FOREIGN LAND

Dia dgn suami nak ziarah sedara yg belajar kat sana. Lega skit rasanya meskipun dalam flight tu tak duduk sebelah menyebelah sbb saya suka duduk tepi tingkap. Sampai sana dah malam, but I had nothing to worry about because my hubby would be waiting for me at the airport.
In a few days, I will be travelling alone to London. The flight that I'll be taking is scheduled to depart ahead of my husband's because I travel by AirAsia. I will arrive one day earlier than him. That makes me anxious. What do I do upon arrival??... where do I go after that??... where can I get the.. whatever ... to go to London (FYI, we will arrive at Stansted Airport) I don't want to speculate things further.... I shall write more about my experience when I get back... BTW..the rules of thumb is ..buka mulut dan tanya orang sekeliling...pasti ada yg sudi membantu...InsyaAllah... safe journey....

RESOLUTION SUCCESS

This article on New Year's resolution success appeared in NST on Thursday, January 1, 2009. In case you missed it,(I hope it is not too late to read) I would like to share the 'recipe' with all of you so that you can be successful in achieving what you set out to achieve:

1. Write them down. It's a fact: writing down your goals gives you a higher chance of success.
2. Commit. Move beyond the land of "good ideas" to the land of true "commitment". Make the decision you will show up for your goals. Perhaps you can do a ritual or ceremony to symbolise your commitments.
3. Tell people. Let your biggest fans in on your new commitments and goals for the year.
4. Get accountability. Even better than just letting in on your "secret" dreams and goals - get some accountability. Meet for lunch once a month with a group that will ask you, "So, how is it going with your goal?"
5. Hire a coach. Talk to your best friend or partner. Get some support!
6. Make a plan. Ensure success with a step-by-step plan. Work backwards by starting with the end vision of where you want to be and working backwards to where you are today.
7. Do a goal check-in. Before you decide on what you will take on for the year, ask: "Am I the primary reason for setting this goal? Do I feel alive and energised by this goal? Is this goal in line with my life purpose or mission?".
8. Get real! How will this goal end differently in 2009? Is this goal something you need to let go of? What purpose is it serving you each year? What is the good enough reason to truly commit?
9. Focus with reminders. Once you have got your goals and plan in place, post your goals on your bathroom mirror or in your car, or in your palm pilots or cell phones. Figure out what works for you.
10. Believe and visualise. Visualise yourself on New Year's Eve with all your goals achieved. What would that look like? How would it feel? Visualise once a day and see the difference it can make in your life.

May 2009 be the year that your goals and dreams reach full flight!

WORK OUT

Time Out KL on how to work out in the office. Jadi ke tak ni....

1. Don't make internal phone calls
Why not walk over to the person you would have called?
2. For exactly the same reason, don't send internal emails
3. Lift the bin up with your feet before putting litter in
This works your thigh and lower abdominal muscles.
4. Go through regular doors rather than the automatic ones
Pushing the doors recruits your triceps (back of the arms), shoulders and chest muscles.
5. If your chair has castors, use it to move around the office
Sitting upright and pulling with the balls of the feet is a great hamstring toner.
6. Don't keep a bottle of water on your desk
Walk back and forth to the cooler.

Pilih lah yang mana agak2 sesuai dgn keadaan anda. Selamat bersenam!

MONEY SAVING TIPS

  • Purchase things from outlets that offer bargains.
  • Plan your trips so that you can complete all chores and your shopping in one journey.
  • Organise a garage sale to get rid of your unused items and this will earn you some extra money. (Huh! Nak beli ada lah.. bukannya nak jual)
  • Purchase items that are only necessary and in cash and avoid using credit card. (Tak de cash - cash dah guna untuk bayar hutang CC bulan lepas - , tapi barang-barang perlu dibeli.... terpaksaaalah guna CC. Nak buat macam mana?! )
  • Plan your meals menu one week ahead and buy groceries accordingly.
  • Only purchase items in the list you have prepared and don't be tempted to buy unnecessary goods. (Jaga mata..jangan melilau sana sini..)
  • Try to visit hypermarkets towards the end of the day where fresh products go for a lower price. (Entah lah... tak pernah jumpa lagi ..yang selalu nampak tu..yang dah tak elok..kalau tak layu..dah buruk, rosak...)
  • Shop at the local markets for fresh vegetables because they offer better price and bargains. (Kat mana, ya?!)
  • Where possible bring home-cooked food for lunch at work, as this is cheaper than eating out. (Hmmmm....)
  • Look out for offers, coupons and freebies. (Always...)
